| So I was in O'Reillys the other day and I noticed that the Project Car magazine had an 1986 Toyota Corolla on the cover. I think it was a little over a year ago that they did their first SR5 to GTS swap article, and this magazine focuses on the same car but some additional information.
Obviously being this forum what it is, the SR5 to GTS conversion isn't really what we're about, but it's still cool to see some Corolla love, even if it is from those sell outs at Primedia-now-SIM International.
Once again, the info isn't too interesting and the magazine is mostly about how they flaunt their magazine affiliation to get discounts that are unavailable to anyone else, but I love all things AE86 so I grabbed it anyway.

| Issue #'s 15 and 16 have some good info. I referenced them when I was replacing my clutch and some seals. And I hate Primedia; I think they ruined about every magazine they ever touched. | |

| I've get ALL the Project Car issues...because between my brother and I we like a ton of different cars so who knows what we'll end up having to wrench on next! #15 and 16 have a lot of good info and pics. Also if anyone has Street Fury - "Envy" and "Redline" DVDs they feature a HachiRoku restoration. The DVDs are a little gangsta-dude-yo-FastNFurious-2005-lingo but if you ignore all that BS and just watch the teardown and build up you see a lot of little tricks. I mean they tear it apart like you would a 65 Mustang to restore it. | |

| FYI, if you put LED's in they can't be dimmed. They are either full on or off. Also, you can get LED's that have a "cone" that is supposed to better distribute the light to avoid bright spots in the gauge cluster. I did green to match the original color but white looked pretty good too. I actually decided I didn't like them and took them out but have been thinking about putting them back in. | |

| Thanks for the heads up, I did not know that. Its fine with me though, Because I like my cluster lights as bright as possible! I hate when there dim. Again I guess just personal preference!!
Painting them is a good idea as well. In fact I have two cans of transparent paint in my garage one red and one blue! Red would be cool....But I still want it to be bright!

| Im going to be doing the same with the leds but mine just to be completly different im getting the purple ones cause those are the closest to having black light type (since they dont have black leds) and they will go better with my bass lights and other custom light mods ive done in the cabin plus they arent as bright as other leds so that wont be an issue with the cluster blinding the hell out of me | |

| I did the LEDs on mine in blue and it looks pretty bad ass at night. Even the turn signals will blink blue behind the green arrows. I bypassed the dimmer switch since mine was broken. My LEDs did actually dimm... I got them in ebay. I think they just need resistors to be able to dim. | |
