| I'm about to buy an 86 SR-5, so I'm pretty sure it will have the 4a-c engine. I'm looking online for tune up parts and a lot of places only show parts for the 4a-ge
Mostly IM wondering about cap, rotor, wires, intake, maybe 4a-ge parts that will increase performance? Pretty much everything that's interchangeable between the "4a" engines
Ill have the car in 2 days so Im trying to learn as much as I can

| 90% of the stuff in this pic are 4AGE. The Alt is 7MGE, the upper rad hose is 7MGE, and the flywheel is 7AFE. "cap, rotor, wires, intake," are not. Those are 4AC specific. | |

Pretty much all bottom ends in the Toyota A-series of engines have compatible bottom ends: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_A_engineThe heads differ though. I think most of the *AC heads are compatible, but the 4AG and *AF / *AFE heads have differences. The intake (EFI) and exhaust from a 4AG won't bolt up to a 4AC head.

| As for EFI look to this version of the 4AC. The 4AELU. | |

Japan only or something; certainly not readily available in the USA.

| Interchangeability based on my personal knowledge between 4A-C, 4A-C, 4A-GE (Early blue top), 4A-FE,:
Top-End parts: 4A-GE - Cam pulleys only 4/7A-FE - Not a single part. 3A-C - Same exact head
Heads: All - Fully interchangeable provided correct headgasket is used.
Blocks: 4A-GE 3-rib 100% the same 4A-FE 7-rib, lacks mounting points for side brackets that attach to transmission (To date I've had no issue without these at 310k miles, using a 4A-F block and a 3A-C head)
Bottom-end: 4A-GE - Crank provided an 8-bolt flywheel is used, windage tray (4A-C does not have this!) 4A-FE - Whole assembly is compatible, rod journals are 42mm in later ones vs 40mm. (Note: Noted some claims that some will have 8-bolt flywheels/cranks, have not encountered this yet.)
Accessories: All - Bracket/accessories can be swapped, locations of accessories are all different. May be fitment issues.
