PostSubject: They……fit?! (17’s)   Fri May 14, 2010 2:16 am

So today I was board and decided to put the 17” rims on my Escort (pic here, http://illiweb.com/fa/pbucket.gif) on my AE-82 just to see how they look, even though I’ve read that 17’s won’t fit.

Well…..they did. Both front and back. I drove it around the yard (tires are totally shot, so no road test yet) and there was no rubbing that I can tell. The rims are 17x7 with 205/40 tires. I forgot to take pics, but it looked awesome.

Is it a fluke? Or do I have some super rare Hachi-Ni? lol

I took it for a short drive down the road today, and it seems the rears DO in fact rub the strut. 5mm spacers should take care of that though. A few pics for your enjoyment.

if you slammed that 82 to the floor with those wheels, it would look sick.

Yeah slam that thing to the ground, otherwise put the stockers back on. If you're real bored, take the springs out and sit on the bump stops; see how that look suits ya. Twisted Evil

I’m still rolling on the stockers for now ‘till I can get some new tires ($$) for the Enkeis. I want to slam it, but roads are horrible around here. I would like to cut a coil or two off the stock springs to bring it down to the look I have photoshoped for my avatar, but I don't know if that would blow a strut or not.
