Well Sh*tttt... I broke a timing belt on the way home tonight.. Went to the auto part store, they have to order it.. it'll be in tomorrow.. Fixing it tomorrow.. This really does suck... Sad

but i guess it would be a good time to go ahead and...

-pull off valve cover.
-clean it up and paint it.
-INSTALL my electric fan!!

Guess theres always something good to the bad things... Smile

Just be glad the 4AC isn’t an interference engine, then it really would suck.

Good Point! haha my other car is a 88 cadi Coupe Deville.. its FWD and if the timing belt ever broke on it.. i dont know what i would do.

Does anyone know if its a bad idea to leave the timing cover off it? it is my daily driver but i love the look of engines with out the cover...

let me know any opinions about it!

Some people will say its bad to leave the cover off because of the possibility of debris getting into it and messing it up somehow. I’ve personally never heard anything bad happening because the cover was removed, but I have seen numerous belts brake due to it not being inspected.

IMO, leave the cover off, it allows ease of inspection every time you open the hood.

My timing cog sawed threw wires going down the road with the cover off, but the wires were loose not ziptied like they are now.
