| Hi all, I have upgraded to a 7a-fe, and am therefore trying to find new homes for my 4ac stuff. I'm not trying to make a huge pile of money, I really just don't want to scrap this stuff.
parts include: complete 4a-c (less the weber carb, which i already sold). This motor is kinda beat, not going to lie. It was burning some oil toward the end, and then the water pump went began to leak, which precipitated my new motor. I caught the leak quick, so no low water / overheating. It has a schneider cam (260-70F, website says 1.8k to 5.8k rpm range) which has only been in there for 3 years. I doubt I will find a buyer of the complete motor close enough to make shipping feasible, so I am happy to part it out. manifolds, water inlet/outlet, weber 32/36 adaptor, oil pan, I've got it all!
I also have a 3a-u long block that i have never used, so I can't vouch for the condition. The block is not stuck and doesn't look bad in any way. Head looks fine also, though i never put it back together after sending out the cam (then my spare) to schneider (I have the stock cam from the 4a-c).
Regarding pricing, the camshaft is the only thing that I feel has any real value. $50? Anything else, if you can make it worth my time to pack and ship, you got it! I have never shipped a motor before, and I frankly doubt these blocks are worth shipping, but I am happy to consider it.
Parts are located in Bozeman, MT. Let me know of any questions! cheers, Sam Carlson

| Since you asked... The motor was in a 1977 vw microbus. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VFN-UfRSYBY/SwLT0YMEK3I/AAAAAAAAADM/cWz-QYlqzfE/s1600/IMG_0644.JPGNot exactly a common application, but it did great. Perfect reliability, better heat than the air-cooled, and 20 - 22 mpg. I didn't observe any change in gas mileage with the cam. I did notice more power and a rougher idle. I have been meaning to write up the bus project, but in summary, a small reliable motor is a great improvement over the somewhat needy 2.0 air-cooled that it came with. | |
