So I've been shopping for chassis braces because after going from my AE86 to an e30 and back again I really notice the chassis flex, but I don't want to go all out and be adding 100lbs of metal to the underside of the car, so I was wondering what you guys thought the best bang for your buck, or best performance:weight ratio chassis braces were?

I was thinking maybe a ladder bar + the ones that go under the front fenders, whatever they're called, or maybe one of those and something for the hatch or rear floor area, but the front end of the car is what seems to give me the most trouble.

Any reccommendations?  Very Happy

Honestly nothing braces the car better than a good stitch welded body and fine roll cage.

Well, that's all fine but I can't cage my car as I need to leave the full function of the interior and rear seats, and I don't have access to good welding equipment.

I got a polyurothane bushing kit from prothane ant the difference was noticeable and maby some front and rear swaybars would help.

I know this is a bit late, but just FYI for future readers:
I experienced significant improvement in front end response and stiffness after installing a Tanabe strut tower brace. For some reason my car took to it really well, I was very happily surprised at the diffence. At that point I only had replaced the worn shocks/struts with Tokicos.
Normally I don't praise strut bars because up until this car they haven't really thrilled me, but for whatever reason on this car it gave it a whole new confident planted feel.

I can't disagree with that... one of the first things I did was that Tanabe strut tower bar and it made one hell of a difference in the way the car handled. I still want to do something for the rear, but can't really decide what I think would have the most impact and the least amount of weight.

About a month after buying the car 7 years ago, I bought the ebay strut brace kit. Had one for the front and one for the rear. Only issue the one for the rear meant drilling holes. So, after some looking. I found 4 holes already there and used them.

Are those the holes for the rear seat latches? I have been thinking about using those.

I think the top ones are for the speaker grill front brace. The bottom ones are for the latch for the folding seats. Seats still fold too.
