| Ive neen searching and asking around with no luck, maybe someone here can help.
I just bought a 84 tercel as a toy to rally around in. Been thinking about putting ether a rotary or nissan vg30de in it. The engine is already mounted longways so custom mounts and that part is done. I know these cars came in 4x4 how hard would it be to put a rearend in it? Or is the fwd models very different from the 4x4's?

| The 4x4 tercels are all wagons. your best bet would be to look under a wagon and look under yours and see how much space you have. the wagons use the same rearend ad suspension as a Sr5 corolla. You are at an advantage in that the engine is longitudinal, so converting it would not be the utter, impossible mess that converting a FWD corolla would be, but it would almost certainly be cheaper (and MUCH easier) to just buy a Starlet. Why invent the wheel when there are a stack of them to chose form? | |

| It wasnt my intent on swaping it to rwd when I got it, but seeing the engine already long ways, plus knowing it came in 4x4, has me really thinking. Plus trying to find any RWD toyota down here is impossable. The ones you do find are way over priced (drift tax). | |

| If you are going to rally it seriously you need to look at the rules. switching drive ends may put you in too high of a class. | |

| By rallying I mean racing around on back country roads. If I do swap it will be a drift pig/drag sleeper. | |

| Done more research on this. A live axle of any kind is out, too much fab work to be worth it. Looking into a IRS, maybe from a MX-5 or 240sx. With those its just 4 mounting points and bam, its in. The issue now is with the strut placement.
Going this week to cheak on a 13b from a 88 fc.
