It's a good upgrade if you need it, I mean a built N2 or F20c engine that sees a lot of track time. Daily duties, it's overkill.
Yes they are 4 piston.
No stock AE86 front calipers are 1 piston.
Huge difference in stopping power, but also extra rotational weight from the larger rotors required (Mini Cooper rotors)
They usually can be had around 100 bucks in ok shape, loaded with good pads, expect to pay more.

They will require custom machined brackets since they don't bolt straight to the hubs. I think Tor Parts is working on some, I know AJPS in Australia has them, but shipping will kill you. Then you need Mini Cooper rotors, and redrill their bolt pattern so they'll bolt to the hub.

Pretty hard without a machine shop. Google up AJPS in Australia, All Japanese Parts and Spares. They have em.

If your brakes lock up, which a properly working AE86 brake setup should, you don't need more stopping power. Just as Eric stated, it's total overkill for a car with less than 100hp. Your car literally will not go fast enough to necessitate FC brakes.

Or ever weigh enough. Similarly, you don't need 205+ wide tires unless you're racing for reals with over 200hp.

Or unless you habitually blast through the mountains. Daddy needs all the grip he can get.

+1. Even most of the twin cam powered cars have plenty of brakes. Get the system OEM healthy, and use a high boiling point brake fluid to flush and bleed the system and you will be surprised how well a 25 year old can stop.
