PostSubject: AE86 origin    Sat Aug 25, 2012 10:05 pm

So recently I became more interested in the history of my AE86 ie; where it was originally sold, records etc. So I found some stuff tracking back to 94' and found also that in the document it shows my vin and model with the name Toyota and under it had in brackets (Hawaii)

Now the records did not trace all the way back because I really did not want to spend $40 on a vin check and history. So my question is where did the AE86's originally manufacture? There seems to be more in West Coast vs East Coast. Also, does this mean my AE86 was originally from Hawaii?

Thanks for any responses!~ bounce

I'm a little scared to do a VIN check on mine because of the condition it was in when I started. I know the drivers door is not original and the drivers front fender had been worked on and straightened...ignorance is bliss for now, know what I mean?
I'll probably do a check in the future sometime because I too am curious to its previous lives.
Hawaii may just be one of the places it had been registered.

Ahaha I understand man yeah curiosity took over I may pitch the $20-$40 for the full history etc, but for now I see that as valuable part $$$. If Hawaii was the place it was registered I would be very stoked cheers

Also,84hachi thanks for the input as well and I enjoy watching your 86 videos for a lot of the n00bies starting off with the 86 or cars in general it is very informative and entertaining so kudos! Cool

As far as I know, all non-Chevy 8th-generation Corollas were made in Toyota City, Japan.

Hm..sounds right, I suppose it will take a full history report of where and when it was up and running.
