| My SR5 rear hatch has an issue. Everything works just as expected except that when I 'pop the hatch' it doesn't raise up past the catch. So it either takes two to open - one to hold the lever and one to lift the gate, or I have to use the key. Here is a picture of the lower mechanism. The round black pad, to the right of the hook, has a spring that pushes with a nice strong resistance. This should lay against the rectangular steel housing on the lift. It has a worn spot indicating that is positioned OK and the arm goes all the way up and stops against the hook. Everything seems right, but it doesn't pop. I guess it needs a stronger spring?? Or does anyone have other ideas? | |

| My 88 mustang had a problem similar to yors. I drowned the release mechanism in WD40, and also replaced the hatch shocks. The mustang hatch as one heavy sombitch | |

| The shocks hold the back door up fine, but I do have to lift it up before they kick in. It's probably a win to replace them. | |
