I seen a few odd motor swaps but what are your thoughts on a L28 datsun motor in a AE86?

If your going to go through the trouble of shoe horning a straight 6 in there why not do a more modern one? What kind of horsepower can you get out of one those?

a bunch. L series datsun motors are the reason i have faith in the 4ac. the l16 is a counter flow 1.6 four that made 96 to 109 hp stock. the sixes make all sorts of power. they are/ were popular with racers, so there has been plenty of r&d for them. Hell, I have an entire book on building them as race engines.

I can't imagine that the balance is quite the same thought...

Well i been doing alot of research and they fit in realy easy. No cutting the firewall and plus you can use the KA24 transmission and with just a carb and cam and headers and exhuast you can get to 200hp easy. Alot of people say its not worth it but look at the ODVIA L28. Its a 240sx with the L28 with carbs.

I mean im just saying its a different swap and the motors have PLENTY of aftermarket support and are real easy and reliable. You can even go turbo with the 280zxt. That or you can just go with the Holly 4 barral carb set up for under 500. Thats with carb and manifold together.
