24 Hours of Lemons Racing effort Empty

Hey guys, I picked up an awesome 4AC powered Corolla last year that was in killer shape. I purchased it for $300 with the intent of racing in the 24 Hours of Lemons series. I was told that the car had not run in 7 years. Funny, cuz when we jump started it, it fired up on the second try. It has since passed smog and is insured and street legal so that we can more easily move the car around. I'd like to invite any of you that are in the NorCal area and have an interest in this project to join my team in our effort to race this car. Our goal is simple, to finish the race, not win it. And while doing so, learn and have a good time. We just cut the springs yesterday and it has made a dramatic difference. We also cut off the muffler, it sounds great, lol. We will be removing the hvac system next weekend. Areas I need help with currently, trying to find decent brake pads for the rear drum brakes. Something that can stand up to the heat of an endurance race and we're looking to start building a cage soon. Other things we are looking for are better wheels and better but cheap struts as the current ones are completely shot. We have $200 worth of budget to play with to keep within the rules of the Lemons racing series.

I used Satisfied brand shoes on the back from Tire Rack. I like em.

I'm hoping to run a 1971 Pinto in LeMons at Carolina Motorsports Park next year. Anyway, I think Porterfield makes front pads and rear shoes for the SR5. AFAIK, they make the R4 (race) and the R4S (street). You'll want to run the R4 and I think FRSPORT has them. I've been thinking about getting the R4S for the street and the part numbers for them are AP282 for pad ($79) and Shoe 407 ($79).

Thanks a million, this is exactly what I was looking for. Please keep me in the loop with your Pinto!
