Distributer for 1986 Toyota Sprinter 1600cc type 4AE

Hi, I'm have huge problems finding a new or second hand Distributor for my 1986 Toyota Sprinter 1600cc, engine type 4AE. Can any body help here?

should be the same one as the 4ac, I have a 4ae and its the same thing

4AE is just the fuel-injected version of a 4AC. Everything else is the same.

Mike - how do you know that they are the same? I have never heard of any one in the US having one. They could have changed it when they went to EFI, like adding computer controlled timing.

Limerick10 - you actually have the fuel injected version of the 4AC? I would like to see some pictures of that. On the distributor is it a mechanical and vacuum advance type, or does it have elctronic timing control? If it does not have electronic timing controls, Mike is probably right about it being the same as a 4AC distributor.

I seem to recall you or maybe someone else saying that they had a 4AE, but I believe that it was based on a yellow sticker on the valve cover. If thats what your basing it on I believe that to be an incorrect assumption. I also have a motor that has a sticker on it that says 4AE, but it is not a 4AE engine. Unless you purchased it from a place that sells used Japanese motors and it came with a fuel injection manifold on it, you can't say for sure that it was a 4AE. I have seen various Toyotas at the wrecking yard that seemed to have Japanese market motors (from the blue sticker on the valve cover) swapped in, so it could have been done by someone else. But usually when that kind of swap is done, all of the external bits are removed and replaced with the stuff from the original motor. So if it was a 4AE originally, the distributor would have been replaced with the 4AC one. So unless you did the swap yourself and know that the distributor on there is the same as the 4AC you can't say for sure.

I had an SR5 hatch once that had a JDM engine swapped into it. Valve cover said 4AE on it, and there were very minor differences in locations and designs of things. Overall, it looked pretty similar though.
