I'm currently looking to upgrade my tire setup, I'm currently running 175/70R13, what setup would give me better grip and traction. My car has also been lowered, so I'm a bit worried about rubbing. Even with my stock tires, I had to roll the fenders just so it wont rub, so I'm a bit worried about clearances.

When I picked up my 84 corolla the previous owner chopped the springs to lower the car so I replaced those with lowering springs but every time I do a really sharp turn the car makes a loud ping sound coming for the front of the car ( sounds like if the compressed and the decompressed really fast and then hit something) its really had to explain but it only does it when I turn shape like when backing out of a drive way or parking spot. Any ideals?

What wheels are you running?

You can tell us what wheels you have on your car in this thread.

I have 6 spoke wheels from an early 80's Datsun 280Z. They are from the junkyard so they are cheap, and reasonably light as well. They also have low backspacing which helps me clear the helper spring and adjustable lower spring perch on the front suspension. The front struts are set up for lots of suspension travel, and the perch is quite low on the strut which is what causes problems. I also have to use a 0.25" spacer ...

I wanna make my car handle better, to much body roll and the COG is way to high!

I have a 1984 Toyota Corrola 4 door Sedan.

I heard good springs on stock struts is a stupid idea? I think it will offer better handling to a point.

I don't have the money for full blown coil over shocks that cost $900+!

I heard about coil clamps? Reduces the hieght by 2inches adds better handling but not sure about them...(people say they work really well)

I'm planning on using some wheel studs that I got from NAPA for $1.60 each. Supposedly, they are for a Lexus LS400. I measured the stock wheel studs at about 36mm and the NAPA ones at about 44mm. I figure these will work nicely if I use a small spacer. Maybe this info will help someone. Also, I know there are other options out there and was wondering what people here have used.

I was wondering what shock / struts and springs you guys have experience with. I've never been able to find much info on the subject especially since I have leaf springs in the rear. I wanna keep the leave springs but my rear driver side shock has definitively taken a dump so I figure since the thing rolls like a jet fighter thru turns I might as well replace all the suspension once I get her back on the road. Just wanted some suggestions.
