If your looking to removed the roundish air cleaner assembly, just took out the bolt that is holding the air cleaner in place, it should be bolted on to your engine.

Thats strange, taking out the whole air cleaner actually gives me a lower rpm @ idle.

Did you remove the whole of the stock air cleaner housing? If you did, did you do anything about all the hoses that used to connected to the air cleaner? I seem to recall that one of the hoses had an idle function. If you did not deal with it correctly, or left any of the other hoses that connect to the inlet manifold off it might be causing it. A vacuum leak can cause a high idle.

Yes you should also plug up the vaccum hoses, that was connected to the air cleaner housing to return idle to normal. |

Well anything that plugs the hose / barb can be used. I have used bolts, pencils, drill bits, etc. for temporary plugs in hoses, buts thats a little too ghetto for me for permanent plugs. I would follow any hoses back to the vacuum source and use a rubber vacuum cap on the tube/barb. You can get vacuum caps at the parts store for not much money in the red packaged "Help" section.
